About the Festival
The Turkish Film Festival of New York is a multi-dimensional cultural diplomacy project that aims to establish Turkish culture as a permanent value in the world’s most prestigious metropolis through the universal language of cinema. Beyond a mere selection of films, this platform seeks to integrate the aesthetic depth and production quality of Turkish cinema into New York’s global film ecosystem, aligning our directors, actors, and producers with international distributors and industry professionals. By introducing our local narratives to American audiences, the festival also creates a 'cultural homecoming' for the Turkish diaspora in North America, fostering a shared sense of belonging and cultural continuity. The festival features an elite program encompassing all dynamics of cinema. In addition to screenings at iconic venues such as the SVA Theatre and the Barrymore Film Center, the festival facilitates discussions on the present and future of film through panels, industry sessions, and workshops held at the Turkish House (Türkevi). Serving as an international showcase for emerging talents, this process culminates in a glamorous red-carpet ceremony at the SVA Theatre, an awards gala honoring twelve distinct categories, and a grand finale. This holistic approach transforms cinema into an emotional bridge between societies, transcending its role as a mere art form.
